I'm looking to invest in a mining rig about 3,000. The rig id like to build would be for mining bitcoin. Id like this rig to produce about .05 bitcoin a month/ the 1000 dollar a month bitcoin equivalent. I was thinking of a gpu miner. I'm very old , nvidia nv1 was top of the line in my day when I built computers before going into gunsmithing and firearm design. What gpu would one recommend for this? I intend to build about 4 or 5 mining rigs before taking my profits from mining and rebuilding and retooling my workshop. I just figured word of mouth would be a good place to start.

Would buying mining machine directly be more efficiently?

Mining bitcoin directly using GPUs is hardly profitable nowadays, and the gains would be minuscule anyway. It is better to mine altcoins and then exchange them to BTC or cash. I suggest looking and asking in the Altcoin mining https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0 section.

What would you suggest other then gpu mining?

What would you suggest other then gpu mining?

Today bitcoins (and other coins with the same SHA256 algorithm, like Bitcoin Cash) are mined with specialized hardware, ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits). They are orders of magnitude faster than GPUs for this task, so bitcoin mining with GPUs is essentially dead (and was so for three or four years). Basically there are two options:

- Get an ASIC miner. I do not mine bitcoins since 2013 and I have no first-hand experience with ASICs, so it is better to ask someone in the Mining Hardware subforum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=76.0).

- Build GPU rig for mining altcoins, which is no less profitable. The choice of GPUs (ATI or Nvidia) depends on the coin(s) to be mined. There are some websites for comparison, for example https://whattomine.com/, and the Altcoin mining subforum I mentioned before.

You will not be able to build a rig with 33% monthly ROI! If you think that mining is getting rich scheme, I will need to disappoint you.
Check the Mining section for more relevant info about rigs and ROI.

The best gpu to mine are rx 470/480/570/580...because of the electricity usage...but if u have free elec then I think the best choise are gtx 1070ti or r9 because of higher hashu...but they are more expensive...so u have to calculate what is good for u...don't mine btc...mine eth, etc and other coin's and convert it to btc if u want to have btc
Search on google/youtube...lot of articles and videos about how to get first rig...
