hi i just got the following mail. but i have no idea what to do. please help.

You need to do a signed message to prove if that was your own address and not owned by someone else.  you should get to this page https://www.myetherwallet.com/signmsg.html
to sign a message and I guess you should open your ethereum wallet.  And then just put any massage to prove it as your own address.

they gave me the link. i clicked it . it was in MEW. it showed sign msg in the box.  i signed the msg. copied the msg amd verified the msg in the verify box.

This sounds very suspicious, and I would be very careful of a phishing attempt here. You should never enter private keys/usernames and passwords/login details/etc on links that have been sent or emailed to you. Always navigate your own way to MEW/exchanges/online wallets/etc. Safest practice is to bookmark the real and trusted sites.
