I would say XRP is good for either short or long term holding. It is by far the top traded coin at this time.

There are the so-called shit coins - sometimes i buy a small part of them, because they are pumped occasionally. But it is risky.
Best way buy the altcoins  where are news expected and growth very likely. But it is big and hard job, to follow the news of many coins and their developers.

If it is risky, Why do you always considered to use this kind of coin? When eventually there are some that has a good background where it is not risky at all.
