Because as a financial expert, Bitcoin isn't tangible. It's not a "real" asset to him. It's only backed by the Blockchain, which he has stated that he loves, by the way:

Quote
The blockchain is a technology which is a good technology. We actually use it. It will be useful in a lot of different things. God bless the blockchain.

But it's not only him. Any other financial expert, analyst, or trader will tell you that Bitcoin is a scam/fraud and that the bubble will burst one day. And that Bitcoin will crash.

Quote
The only value of bitcoin is what the other guy'll pay for it. Honestly I think there's a good chance a lot of the buyers out there are out there jazzing it up every day so that maybe you'll buy it too, and take them out.

He's probably referencing instances in his personal history where he's seen situations like this happen, such as in penny stocks and pump-and-dumps. He truly believes that Bitcoin is fraudulent, and he's adamant that he "doesn't care about Bitcoin":

Quote
...this is the last time I'm ever going to answer questions about bitcoin because I really don't care...
Quote
I don't personally understand the value of something that has no actual value. You all can do whatever you want and I don't care.
Quote
I could care less about bitcoin. I don't know why I said anything about it.
Quote
Every day, you have CNBC, nonstop bitcoin — Who cares about bitcoin?

In my personal opinion, based on everything I've heard him say about Bitcoin, he just sounds bitter. He keeps claiming that he doesn't care about Bitcoin, yet he keeps talking about it.

Quote
Look, everyone has a personal opinion about Bitcoin. I remain highly skeptical of it. But as I’ve said previously, I’m open-minded to uses of cryptocurrencies if properly controlled and regulated

I think that he missed the boat and deep down inside, he's wishing he would have invested in Bitcoin when he first heard about it. But what do I know? I'm no financial expert Roll Eyes

What's funny is that the Winklevoss twins challenged Jamie Dimon to short BTC if he truly feels that it's a fraud. It hasn't been done (more than likely due to speculation that it's) because Dimon probably doesn't truly feel that Bitcoin will fail.

Quote
Tyler called the JPMorgan Chase CEO’s criticism of bitcoin “cheap” and added, “We encourage Jamie Dimon, we encourage him to personally bet against it, bitcoin, take J.P. Morgan's balance sheet, bet against bitcoin.  We'll see what happens.”

Come one its already 2018 and you still get affected on what this man say. he didnt even have a proof of this accusations that bitcoin is a fraud. that man is a banker so dont expect him saying good things about bitcoin. he is the one who is so stupid trying to poison peoples mind. i wonder how much bitcoin did he bought and how much profit he got after he made this statement.

Why do you think he says this stuff?
He's part of the traditional banking structure and Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are a massive threat to that..

He's just trying to protect his own interests. It's not the first time..  Smiley

Every one is unique and every one of us has our own perceptions, ideas, opinions to every single details. For me, though I don't know him personally , he has his own perception. We must respect it but it doesn't mean he has the right to look down On it.

what!! that sounds dumb.
they have been shorting bitcoin, why do you think he called bitcoin "fraud" in first place? they took their places and got ready for a big dump which he then caused. i wouldn't even be surprised to learn this was a coordinated scheme with some big players in the market.
and the actual funny part was when someone proved that their firm had bought bitcoin in that dip Wink

Some minor research on the subject would have shown Mr Dimon that Bitcoin was conceived from brilliance. So he's basically going through the phases we all went through upon discovering Bitcoin. It takes some people longer, I suppose.

haha, it is funny because about 2 days ago Jamie Dimon said he is sorry for calling bitcoin a "fraud". things are starting to become very interesting again. what i would like to know is what do they have in their plans for bitcoin now? are they planning on selling the coins they bought at that dip he caused? or are their company starting to offer any bitcoin-related services?
they say they are planning on some blockchain-based system though.

the funny part is he is still saying "i don't care" but keeps talking about bitcoin Cheesy

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/09/jamie-dimon-says-he-regrets-calling-bitcoin-a-fraud.html

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Exactly most financial advisors do believe that the BITCOIN bubble will one day pop who knows how true that is, but the people that made money right, have made it big
