Don't know who these guys are but they want your full info else no more Ripples. Subscribing to mail-list with endless disposable emails to get Ripples was annoying enough, now they've gone too far.

This only serves to encourage and perpetuate identity theft.

"Unfortunately the information you submitted did not match records in the
national databases that we use for identity verification. In order to perform
verification please email to us scans of a government issued photo id, a void
check to your US bank account and a proof of residence (telephone or utility
bill with your name and the current address printed on it)."

Oh, I'm not worried about NSA, they already own everything and care not about my measly live savings. I'm worried about half-baked Skids and the countless SQL injections.

I signed up with them over a month ago and have yet to receive any unsolicited emails as a result. You have to provide the usual info you would normally have to provide when linking to a bank account. I was not asked for scans of any documents. If you don't want to sign up, then don't. They are just offering a service by which you can transfer funds from a bank account to the ripple network. What's the big deal?

Now, whether or not it is a good idea to be dumping funds into the ripple network is an entirely different debate, but I don't see the problem with what SnapSwap is doing...

Exactly...All I see on their homepage is them asking you to verify your bank account in order to get the 1,500 Ripples.

Pretty much every payment processor asks you to do this; Paypal, Gox, etc.

The thing is, I tried a real bank.......well, an online bank, but a bank nonetheless. Then I get hit with the old "send us your document" just as the days when Paypal jerking me around and freezing my freaking funds for 180days.

I'm not saying any wrong(yet) with what they're doing, just pointing out it's like Paypal all over again with a twist.

Just to clarify, signing up with SnapSwap is not the only way to transfer funds to a Ripple wallet. It is just one of the ways.

And of course people should always be careful about divulging information online, but the process here is nothing new. Proceed with caution, as usual.
