Was there anything about 2018 that was special in regards to crypto?

I’m asking if there was anything specific to 2017 that made it special because I just ran some numbers and if you had invested equal amounts in the top 10 coins 1/1/2017, today you would have 60.7x!

I think the special one for crypto in 2018 is the value of altcoin rising than value of bitcoin. Why I say like that? Because many people begin looking for altcoin that the price is rising than bitcoin price. Even more, looking for bitcoin is difficult and need long time. So, it's the special one in 2018 for crypto.

Everyone says 2018 is a special year, but what's special about it and why is it special? In my opinion, in 2018 Bitcoin alone will increase and the estimated price is 30k, which may attract many investors.

Lightning network may be released (Who knows though. It seems like it is almost always close to being released). Also, it will be the first full year where bitcoin is mainstream. Bitcoin may collapse or it may moon. This year may be the year that we see whether it will truly succeed or fail.

There is nothing to indicate that bitcoin would collapse ,so that theory is outdated ,hopefully they will be implementing the lightening network soon and everyone will be activating segwit so that all the transactions will be smooth,everyone is thinking about the price of bitcoin going up or down,i would like to see the price being stable for sometime rather than going up or down.
