Hi, Can I use D.F. Storm http://www.enermax.co.uk/fans/dfpressure0/?L=0%2Fpage.php%3Fid%3D12cm  on Antminer S7 instead of stock fans? They seems powerful and quiet.

This only goes up to 3500 RPM while stock S9 fans go up to 6000 and regularly operate near 4500. It’ll definitely not be enough for safe operation. Pressure won’t be enough on this fan either.

^Yeah.

You'll need to underclock the S7 a lot, if you want to use the Enermax DF Storm fans with it.

I tried it on an S7 with this exact fan.  After about three minutes the S7 started beeping and would not stop as long I used that fan.  It did not like the RPMs being reported.
Even when I underclocked it, the beeeping did not stop!  Just about drove me crazy.

That said, if I ran the fan in its fastest mode and it kept the S7 reasonably cool (not as cool as the factory fan, of course) but the beeping did not stop.
Someone posted a suggestion to disable the beeper but I did not want to take that chance since it is also an overheat warning.

Finally gave up and went back to the stock fan.  Then got rid of my S7's about a year ago.

There’s ways to spoof fan RPM IIRC, I remember a guy said he used a $5 device or something to do it and the miner (presumably an S7) would run without any beeping. I’d still just stick with stock for safety though.

The stock fans work fine, there is no reason to replace them.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.
