Dogecoin is already a useful coin even before despite of being a meme coin. It was accepted on many platforms so it's not a big deal if Elon makes this coin as an official currency for twitter. It's all about Elon Musk. Period. People foolishly believe that Elon Musk's Twitter buyout has a direct relationship with Dogecoin, when in fact, it is not. This happens when one man has influence over DOGE by spreading positive comments about it. Remember, it's not about Elon Musk but rather crypto's Blockchain technology to change our world for the better. Financial inclusion to the unbanked is what matters the most.

But it is not used so much anymore, because opportunities for inter-exchange arbitrage have fallen dramatically and many exchanges have introduced KYC. Earlier, in 2016-2018, crypto-assets prices had a bit bigger spread, personally from my observations and DOGE in this regard helped a lot to profit from this price difference, transferring value between exchanges. Now it has become much more difficult, so DOGE is increasingly shifting towards speculative use only. The project does not develop technically, though why be surprised, it is a fork, a common meme-coin, not a platform for smart contracts, for example. I once read that developers wanted to introduce DOGE staking, but now I'm more inclined to believe that it was just news for the sake of news, to whet the excitement to buy the coin.

Lots of investors have been attracted to it knowing that it could easily be manipulated by huge personalities and influencers like Elon Musk. His tweets influenced its price so it pumped a good price last time but since we're in the bearish season, they can't influence it the same way again. I believe that when the market recovers again, dogecoin will be hyped and could possibly pump.

Isn't Doge actually a speculative investment?  Even Bitcoin which has a way more real-life usage is considered a speculative investment by many popular financial people.  Worst is that Dogecoin has no supply limit making it one of the worst investments in cryptocurrency when coin inflation is taken into consideration.
