Hi, i've looked around for this answer but i cant find it.

I found this info on Bittrex support:

Quote
What fees does Bittrex charge?
Bittrex has the following fees

Trades - All trades are charged .25% of the profits of the trade.  This is calculated by taking the (amount * purchase price * .0025).  Any portion of an order that has not execute, will be refunded fully upon the cancellation of the order.

as you can see it clearly states that the .25% is charged on the profit of the trade. but this cannot be correct becuase it shows you the commission charge on the "buy" screen. at this point there is no profit, i havent made any profit yet.

what i'd really like is a simple spreadsheet that i can import my csv files into and it works it all out for me.

I found a dead link for a google sheet that uses the bittrex api which sounded great but it looks like its now dead in the water.

anyone know of anything i can use?

thanks
zac

This is calculated by taking the (amount * purchase price * .0025).

This is the correct sentence. Every amount you buy (the part of the order that is executed) pays 0.25% to them.
The rest is incorrect, as you also stated. Buy is not profit.

what i'd really like is a simple spreadsheet that i can import my csv files into and it works it all out for me.

If you open a csv into Excel you already have a spreadsheet.
I didn't ever download Bittrex csv (I did so once or twice with Poloniex though), but if you explain more detailed what you want to achieve, I can help you with the Excel formulas.

thank you for the response. it's helped clear up my confusion.

guess what i'm after is a spreadsheet that will simply tell me profit/loss for each sale

bought for x, sold for x, minus fees, =

OK, I downloaded and opened now a CSV from Bittrex.
If you open it in Excel, column G is Price and column F is CommissionPaid. So you can go, for example, to the empty cell J2 and write: =G2-F2 <enter>
Then (you are still on cell J2) press copy (CTRL-C), then Shift+PgDn to select all the cells under J2 that interest you and press Paste (CTRL-V) to apply the same formula.
Ah, and make the column J wider to see the entire numbers.

OK thanks. so this deducts the commission paid per buy or per sell. so guess i can simply create another sheet whereby i i put the buy & sell next to one and other and do the same calculation to work out whether that particular buy/sell was profitable.

its strange you'd think with such a sophisticated site like bittrex that it would just display this info for you, and maybe even give you a graphical display of your selling habits

does this assume that the commission is paid on the BTC or the coin that is being purchased?

Bittrex shows something on their page, it's the column cost/proceedings. Not much thought. And this makes me wonder about some things:
[1] Do you pay commission at buy and at sale too? I think it's like that, since in our excel the column CommisionPaid is never empty (and their page tells "All trades have a 0.25% commission.")
[2] Since our numbers don't match with what they show on the page (ignoring the +/- sign and the one satoshi rounding at the end) you may have to carefully look at your funds when you do one sale and one buy and see if anything is wrong in the Excel and how can we correct it.

When you buy or sell there's one big "display" of what you pay and what you get. I don't read it either, I know Smiley.
Right now I don't have enough funds at Bittrex to check for you, so you just look at that view when you buy or sell and you'll get your answer (and also for [2]) I don't know for sure so I better don't try to guess.
