Hi,

Let me share my experience. I have 20+ cryptos and sometimes it gets hard to follow with the market volatility. So I decided to group them to have a better view of my portfolio. Let me introduce you to my personal jungle:

40% of Lions.
They are the king of cryptos, strong and reliable. A solid investment, with my 4 lions: BTC, LTC, ETH, BCH. Not surprisingly the 4 cryptos available on Coinbase, I agree with their expertise for listing the stronger coins.

40% of Tigers.
They are crouching in the bushes, but ready to jump out and reach the stars. So my tigers are projects that (imho) have great potential and are already recognized (forget the 25-years-roadmap). My 4 tigers are XMR (strong dev team, very confident it will end rising high), NEO (this one has already exploded in January), OMG (come on a project backed by Vitalik cannot fail) and EOS.

10% of Elephants.
Those are biiiig projects, very stable, very reliable, but I limit my investments because there are too many coins on the market, it will not have the rarity effect. My 3 elephants are XRP, IOTA and ADA. I am pretty sure the XRP will be a very successful project, but that won’t necessarily imply a rise in the token value since there are 100 billion tokens (and the company that runs XRP owns 60% of those). I believe those elephant will not fall, but they will not either make x20.

10% of Monkeys.
There are so many types of monkeys: big gorillas, aggressive baboons, smart chimps, small marmosets. I have them all: DASH, WAVES, BTS, REQ, QTUM, STRAT, QSP, ENJ, POWR, INS… Some will never take off, some will rocketeer, some may reach the moon. Or not. I hope one of them will cover the loss of all the other ones. In the monkey cage I have presently 15 monkeys, adding some from time to time when I see some interesting articles. Most of them have 3-5 years roadmap, so that is a long-term investment.

Now my game is trying to keep the percentage of the different groups, at the time of this writing my lions have reached 43% and tigers are down to 37%, but I’ll keep an eye on them.

So do you like my jungle ? Does this portfolio look pertinent ? I am not expecting a x20, but I hope I will at least follow or beat the BTC in mid-term.

It's a good way to break down a portfolio and might help some others when trying to decide themselves. I would say that your lions represent a really good portion of your portfolio but personally I'd scale back on the tigers and put a little more in to the monkeys and then the elephants, actually I'm not a big fan of the elephants so maybe you could leave that at 10%. It goes against the jungle theme but finding some caterpillars could be good, projects who are in their infancy but can develop in to beautiful butterflies. INS is probably the closest to that out of your whole portfolio but it wouldn't do some harm to have a few more speculative coins that can go 100x or more.
