So I was checking my email, when I noticed that I got an email from VirWoX saying "your deposit has been confirmed". I was confused because I don't really use VirWoX anymore. I went on the site and sure enough, I had received .5 BTC.

I know that I didn't send it. I also checked the blockchain and there is no record of any transactions with my btc deposit address, which is:

178gJy8mCtgXvon1i21XCK4gk7YCMhfYi5

Blockchain page: https://blockchain.info/address/178gJy8mCtgXvon1i21XCK4gk7YCMhfYi5

Any ideas on what happened?

Update: I've withdrawn the BTC to another account.

Update 2: I was able to withdraw the BTC to this address, although it has not received enough confirmations to be credited yet:

1xyyj3tb3To4TTdqcsVDvjfaZR5hxpGSQ

As you can see, the BTC is there, or at least on its way (minus Virwox's .01 fee).

If I was you, I'd withdraw it.

I will. I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I would like to know how this happened, however. Bitcoins shouldn't be popping out of nowhere.

That sounds like a bug with VirWoX, given that there isn't an actual transaction on the blockchain.

Well we'll see if my BTC withdrawal gets confirmations.

Alright, well unfortunately I do not support aliens so that "charity" will never see any donations from me.

You can always exchange the money and donate to another charity.
