Based on my observation, the success of the cryptocurrency is based on how the people involved here work and their effort exerted. The success of this is also because of the investors and the other people who are advertising this cryptocurrency.

As far as i know some crypto currency failed because they didn't reach the hard cap, at first we didn't know if one will be success or not, if you are looking for a coin that will be success look at the team ,the developers and the project that you think that will get many investors.

Just make this simple.
In out there many company fight to each other for introduce their product to people. But over time only company who have a best product and give and advantage for much people will survive. So this same with the crypto world. If developer made a good product (include token) and they have a strong and credible team, I guest community will always support it. So the coin will survive from the extinction.

Because of the people like us, many of them has interested because of some good features advertise and its really convincing with people to adopt themselves. now one can ignore if the if there is a money involve by exchanging your effort then it is constantly being successful because of many supporter that's because of their heartily promises.

The success of an Altcoin depends on the seriousness of the dev coin, because when the developers can fully develop the success will be achieved. In addition, the innovation and mission of a coin must be clear so as to attract many investors. Usually most altcoins present do not take this into consideration, they only make coins with the intention of making a profit for themselves by pumping and dumping the coin. I strongly suspect such a thing because it can make the trust of many people decline, many people would assume that the newly created Altcoin has a great risk to be invested.

All those ICO's has a company. If those companies project sucks would you invest on them.

Also some companies has great marketing which other coins does not.

How does cryptocurrency success?

It all depends on the idea of the project. If they have a unique one and a good concept, they can attract many investors to support their project. If the ICO is back-up by credible developers who dedicate all their effort to the success of the project and investors are not getting a hint that the devs are only in for the profit, I'm sure it will have a huge support from the community which in fact gives more impact to the token's price value in the market.

many reasons decides a crypto asset success or failure i will point out some of them,

the development  and the road map comes out at first
the coin must have a purpose to make a fast adoption   
some coins are created to focus on a specific region so it has a use in a specific place or created to help some area such security adoption of crypto currencies...etc
the developers must have a plan to make the coin get widely accepted as a payment
and some coins fails because it has no specific purpose only created to scam or to make money and you can findout which coin has the potential and which by researching such a project and also watch for members opinions
