I do not fully understand you but I can tell you some things you can and can not do with bitcoin.
You can pay for services and goods as far as the provider accepts bitcoin as payment.
You probably can not pay day to day common goods with bitcoin because usually people/businesses are not familiar with it at the moment.
I hope my words have help you.

Your biggest limitation at this point in time is the number of merchants who accept bitcoin payments.  Theoretically, your wallet has btc which is a "currency".  With the fees as high as they are and with so few merchants accepting btc, you'll probably have limited success for now.

I saw a guy paid with a credit card from ripple wallet, if it is what u mean. Other than that there's not much instant connection with real world at the moment (however do not even doubt, cryptos will be part of everyone's life in the next 2-3 years already)

I wanted to add some extra info, other than the info given by previous posters:
1) don't use bitcoin as an internet banking account, meaning: don't use online wallets... Get yourself a decent desktop wallet on a clean PC, be your own bank Smiley
2) altough previous posters are right: there aren't a lot of resellers accepting BTC, and the fees are really high at this point, you can still use BTC for larger purchases: For example, overstock, casekings, dell, fasttech, bitgild,... are all accepting btc. If you use BTC to buy a new laptop, you shouldn't care to much about a relatively large fee... I actually bought a new laptop last month using some of my funds, it's all pretty easy and straightforeward if you buy from a reputable seller and make sure you add a decent fee.

atomic swaps are coming this year and evolving fast, note this. So sooner or later you will have f.e. mastercard with multicryptocurrency wallet attached to it and let's say you have some neo on it, you'll be able to pay for something even if they are only accepting btc or eth. So future is bright in this regard

The first thing that you need to do is just buying a ledger wallet, by this way, you are going to protect all your cryptos, doesnt matter what.

Security is the first, and it is upto you about how are you going to manage your wallets and for what kind of purposes.

You can buy bitcoin from someone else. After acquiring bitcoin, you can use it to buy dollars (i.e., "withdrawal") and other goods. In essence, these activities are the transfer of bitcoins between different accounts.
