CPU mining is a common way to mine. However as the mining difficulty rises so does the need for more effective hardware. That’s when other mining hardware like GPU, FGPA and ASIC takes it place.

In the scenario of proof of work (PoW) yes. In the case of AAA Coin no as it's reliant on proof of stake (PoS) where you just hold coins in the wallet to prove transactions. No mining, it's called minting.
