Someone explain to me why Quarkcoin is worth buying.  What makes it unique?  What does it do for crypto that other crypto doesn't?

from the ANN:

* Super secure hashing: 9 rounds of hashing from 6 hashing functions (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein). 3 rounds apply a random hashing function.
* CPU mining
* Quick block generation: 30 seconds
* 2048 QRK per block (halving every 60480 blocks ~ 3 weeks)
* Block reward will never drop below 1 QRK
* Total of 247 million QRK will be mined in ~ 6 months, after that ~ 1 million QRK p.a. (~ 0.5% p.a inflation)
* Difficulty retargets every 20 blocks (maximum 10% up or 50% down)

so it's one of the few CPU only coins out there, which means there's a lot of spare hardware that can be mining it while GPU's mine other coins, hence all the extra hashpower.

See that total of 247mil to be mined in 6months? we're in the last leg of that, so perhaps people are trying to get in before the mint rate plummets.

sadly though Quark's economy is boned. it's full of nothing but bagholders; if it ever gains a stable price there are going to be hundreds of people waiting to dump it for profit. you won't make much off of it unless you wait for several years, and by then crypto's are bound to be in a completely different world from where they are now.

SRC is a much better long term hold, it's the same specs except its economic model is the same as Bitcoin, with 21 million coins that will be minted at a steady rate over a period of years, not to mention it was made instamine-proof by having the first few thousand block rewards increase from 0.
