I think some Bitcoin bagholders want to throw out crypto-anarchist ideology as a last-ditch effort to try to sell people on Bitcoin vs XRP. 


To me, there is significant irony, as Ripple has publicly stated that 2018 is going to be the 'year of decentralization' for XRP and that their goal is to make XRP even more decentralized than Bitcoin or other POW systems.
