The safest way is to use an exchange. The wire transfer will be performed on Monday and Tuesday and you will get your bitcoins within 48 hours. You can use btc e, bitstamp, or CoinBase if you are American, even mt.gox.

You can also use https://localbitcoins.com/ or find in this sub forum a direct seller: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0 but be careful (some scammers are there too). And don't forget to use escrow if you take the last option.

Some people gave ID and scammed 1 btc
+ you are new, so people will not trust you.
+ if you were legit, you won't hesitate to use a safe exchange like mt.gox and get bitcoins within a few days.
