This:

He had repaid 1 or 2 coins since the settlement deal, which made him seem more trustworthy in my eyes. He took a few smaller loans from me, and then eventually managed to get a rather large loan, which he promised to repay a few hours ago. He's been ignoring me and missed the payment deadline, which is the final nail in the coffin.

Is very worrisome, the guy did not pay you and then the guy pays you a small amount and you make him a loan again? I'm sorry to tell you this, but you should definitely stop lending money to people because You trust too much on unknown people. and this is not a good thing. Have you checked if he has an account here at bitcointalk?

You are absolutely right. This entire incident is my biggest mistake, and it exemplifies sunk cost fallacy as well as human stupidity. I don't do loans without collateral anymore, mainly because of this dude. He doesn't have an account on bitcointalk but he's pretty well known in the bitcoin gambling space. He tries scams like this very often, so hopefully this thread deters other victims from being created.

I like gambling. Probably currently trying to figure out how to pay next month's rent.

There has to be more to this story. Why on earth would you lend over 100 Bitcoins to some person you’ve never met online.. and not to mention a degenerate gambler.

Do we have the TX IDs or proof of those big transfers?

There are transaction IDs for some of the loans (as shown in the doc), but most of them were tipped on bustabit. The real proof is in the negative statistics on the accounts where the loans were given. As you can see, on the loan accounts alone, the total loss is 25 BTC, not counting the losses suffered on other accounts.
