Hi Guys,

I've got a Dell T610 Server with
- Quad-core Intel Xeon processors 5600 series
- Intel 5520 Chipset
- Onboard 5 PCIe G2 slots (Two  x8 slots AND Three x4 slots)

So, i was wondering

1- how effective will it be to mine using CPU?
2- can i install GPUs to the 5 PCI G2 slots to get a better result, if so which cards are supported?

Lastly, please assume power is not a factor as it is very cheap for me and i've got this server for free, but want to reduce the cost of GPUs (that gives a good ROI).

Thank you

you can try to mine ETN or XMR coin. but your profit smaller than expected except you have free electricity and internet access.

yes, you can do it.
whatever MB type as long as has PCIe socket, you can plug your GPUs on it. but you need USB Riser to expand GPU positioning.

Hi,

I have a PowerEdge T610 with 6cores and since a few weeks I´m able to mine XMR on my server because I´ve bought 3 RX 550 pulse 4GB (PCIE 16x modded and overclocked).

I am able to mine with XMR stak and MSI Afterburner to monitor the temperature beetween 60 to 65 degress. Then I have removed the end of 8x  port.

I have turned off the switch of the righ size stay open. I think GTX 1050 is to big, it's my opinion !

config CPU with gpus

"cpu_threads_conf" :
[

{ "low_power_mode" : 1, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : false }, (this one, only il 0 or 1 GPU !!)

xeon 5600 is not that much effective couse not supporting AES-NI. You will get up to 200h for xmr or something similar.
