Hi guys,

I just signed up here as it seems like a pretty active place with good upto date info.

I am wanting to get into mining with the usb asic's but it does seem a bit late to get your money back on the with mining.
Has anyone been able to? I guess when they first came out they cost a lot more then the 30-40 you can get them for now.

I was curious if the difficulty raises are linked to the overall number of bitcoins mined (as there is an upperlimit and a date set)
or is it variable so if the increase in global hash rate slows down the rises will shrink too?

As a former USB Block Erupter owner.. I say stay away from them.
It's neat as a show piece or to frame on the wall one day.. But making $0.23 a day (and soon to be less) isn't worth it.
The devices are nice.. But they are not built for the long haul and the heat given off from them will eventually wear them out.
I had to have a fan blowing on my V3.00 BE and even then it was too hot to handle... Heat kills electronic components.

My advice to you if you want to get into mining.. Is Don't. It's a pro's game now..
However if you want to hobby mine, Maybe look into getting a Klondike or something powered by Bitfury ASIC technology.

Best regards,

KLYE

Hello,

You probably won't make any ROI, but they are nice for show.

The difficulty is linked to the target to solve a block. The network tries to maintain the difficulty to try to make sure that 10 blocks per minute are generated. The difficulty changes every 2016 blocks based on the average number of block per minute produced. If the average falls below 10 block per minute then the difficulty can go down.
