The Advantage of Merit System for our froum

as you see, recently our forum, use merit system for ranking the user inside user activity. some users are glad for this new system of the ranking and some other no. but Although this merit system is not Pleasant for someone; but it is very necessary for our forum because the ecosystem of bitcointalk forum will some advantage for below reasons:
1-first of all moderation of a forum is very hard work, so when some users sent Successive without searching in the forum, the admin's job to separating all of the posts had been very difficult.
2- without merit system; the database volume increased form spam posts! this cause to reduce the speed of loading of the forum and also Cause to Increase resource consumption.
3- sometimes this spams post if growth most cause to database error (in some sites occurs).
4- searching process and finding useful links was been difficult for newbies.
so after launching these new systems, we see that:
1- forum loading speed is increased
2- Saving time for administrators for moderation of topics
3- resource consumption is optimized
4- newbie users could reach their questions in with consuming low time
5- the risk of site downing is decreasing and so on.
6- the useful posts and topics increasing



but I think; the crackdown on merits may lead to some problems:
1- some users will be Discourage from bitcointalk forum
2- If someone that he wrote a high quality and original post, did not catch merit, may be left the group
3- some people will work on account trading for taking profit.

so; I think; the Overall idea of merit system is so good, but it may be optimized for more development of forum.

You forgot the most crucial one. Members can make a thread about merit systems and earn some merits. I guess it is not working now.

I'll be totally honest with you, what you posted is totally unnecessary, and if you are doubtful let me clear you, you won't get Merits just for starting new threads, but there should be something for the community in it. No posts repeating the same, usual and clear-to-all concepts are liked by anyone. Try to find a discussion where you know you can add something which has not been added yet, and give it your best shot. That is the only way you can earn Merits.
Take the advice, do what I said.

If someone is not able to make enough quality posts, he does not deserve to rank up. Obviously if he is here to participate in signature campaigns, he will fail to do so. It is better that they leave and get a real job to earn money.

I've got a great solution - I use the ignore feature. If I put you on ignore, then I won't be able to award you with any sMerits.  Currently my ignore triggers are -

- Posting a whole reply in a non-english language on an english board.
- Including over-sized embedded graphics
- Begging for merit
- Posting garbled random english words
- Large blocks of text with no paragraph breaks
- Oversized or coloured text, and formatting to expand the length of your post.

These are purely personal criteria, and I have adopted them to enable me to scan threads quickly.

I think, it is necessary to determine some law for merits and so Admins could merit good accounts periodically

After the merit system has been introduced, shitposters and spammers like you didn't know what to do and started shitposting on how to earn merit and how it has ruined their lives.

It is not that difficult, if you spend a little time away from shitposting, you can find anything and everything.

thanks so much for your response; if you worked with databases, specially; with SQL and cpanel platform, you will see that sometimes, the volume of the database is growth suddenly so it may cause some problem it doesn't relation with DDOS attacks. it is related to MY SQL volume. please see below link my dear friend

However, just to be clear are you stating that just because there is growth in the "database", there may be problems? Again how exactly does growth in volume relate to merit system? the merit system is a rule that says, your rank will not increase Only by increasing the number of your posts. it means that by this rule, users don't post anything for reaching higher ranks in the forum. so, the volume of the database will not increase like Mushroom species. and users after sometimes only post useful things and this cause decreasing the growth of the database volume
