Hello, this is my first post so I hope I am in the right section.

I mine altcoins and my strategy is to keep them for the long term. I hate trading as I feel it's a very time consuming activity to only get a 50% chance to win or 50% to lose... So my idea is to never monitor the exchange rate of my mined coins but at least, I would change them to fiat in case of fundamental bad news that dumps the market (like we saw recently with regulation in South Korea, ban in China, ...). I would buy the coins back when I feel the price has stopped dumping.

So I was wondering if there was a system to be notified on my cell phone in case of fundamental bad news for the global cryptocurrencies market. An Android app with an alert function maybe or a specific Twitter account, etc... ?

Thanks for any help!

For android Maybe you can downloaded crypto market, in there you can monitoring all the coin price, how much percent it goes up or down, you can see all the price in the market all the market
And you can make an alert when the price go down

Hello and thank you for the suggestion. I'd prefer to use a fundamental analysis rather than a technical analysis though. For example, an alert triggered at -10% would often be a false alert while an alert at -30% would arrive too late anyway. But an alert such as "breaking news: China is banning cryptocurrencies" that would arrive soon after the news becomes public would allow me to take the decision to sell or hodl soon enough. I think I would sell and re-buy just a few times a year anyway (only if there is really bad news). My goal is to be alerted very soon without having to consistently monitor the news about cryptocurrencies.

There is no automatic fundamental alerts on android or even iphone. The best thing is to install a reliable crypto news and read the articles in a daily manner. That is the best way to make you updated for the latest news on crypto industry.

You dont need to read all the articles. just check the title and the impact on crypto.

I haven't seen anything like that though i think it's better if you would mannually search or look for current news about crypto world so that you yourself will be able to clarify what decision you will make. Having something like alert to notify you about something maybe good, but becoming actively vigilant about it is better and more helpful. What if some important news has not been reported to you or has overlooked to be notified to you? Then it might be too late for you to act if something happened.

Thanks again for your answers. "Reading the articles daily" is exactly what I do (I read the titles and open the interesting ones). I agree it's a very good way to get educated. I just fear to be alerted too late about a bad breaking news because I am sleeping or working on something else. AI is very powerful nowadays (for example, Google Vision is able to recognize the expression on a human face) so I thought a program could identify news as "bad and important" for the market but this kind of tool might not exists yet.

There is no automated substitute for human analysis. Only a human can differentiate between FUD and genuine articles. A computer will flag almost all the FUD that are floating around and you will constantly be selling coins. I prefer to sort the good from the bad myself and then make decisions based on my own observations.

In some instances, a article will be posted with something negative and later in the day it might be retracted or edited with updated news. How will a computer <automated software> determine the severity or impact of a specific article or source?

Most of the popular crypto websites like coindesk and cointelegraph have their own twitter handles and even telegram broadcast list. That can help you stay updated about the latest articles, even without going to the website. Of course, if you are sleeping, that won't help you much. Right now, I don't think there is any automatic way to classify the importance (and negativeness) of news reports.
