Do fellow Bitcoiners share the same concerns about most of the community "leaders" being located in the Land of the Free physically?

The beautify of cryptography and math in general is that it is resilient, no matter how many times you threaten the family of SHA256 it will always equal the same hash, no matter the moral dilemma the result will always be the same, couldn't some Nazi anti-terrorist agency force the community leaders to add zero day backdoors, deanonymization features and so on to the client and mark the update "urgent"?

What stops them from trojan horsing a client?

if this happens, what would the trojan do? it would only have a matter of hours or days before someone found it as the client is open source, and once this is discovered we will just turn back time on the block chain and go back to where we were before this happened.

I'm not worried but it does seem to put them at a disadvantage.  I would prefer more leaders from various countries.

why does a foundation need to register in a country anyways?

its not like they are accepting FIAT donations.

the government red-tape about forming a co-op/ foundation / charity is all about legalising who gets to control FIAT donations. why doesnt the bitcoin follow the morals of the red-tape EG ensure not one person is in control of the funds. but their should be no requirement to register to any government financial body, as the foundation does not touch government finances.

in simple terms if they set up a group of people to program a game and to control the game funds of bunny rabbit credits, accepting bunny rabbit credits from their customers to continue the programming. would this community of programmers need all the red-tape that the foundation seems to have tied itself to?

in my eyes all that the foundation needs is a moral guidelines to follow and a nominated address for meetups. no government registration should be required.

the simple rule for working out if any red tape is needed is .. if you take away the FIAT element would the rules still apply

There are many clients, and many mining pools use custom code.  If they fuck with the reference client they still can't change the network rules without the support of these other code bases.  They could, however, steal the keys of anyone who uses the reference client.  I keep most of my bitcoins in offline keys.
