Yeah it is an official tool from myetherwallet.com they are recommending to use this extension to protect you from these phishing sites, most of the people who uses etherdelta were hacked because they didnt have this extension i was alarmed by this extension when etherdelta was hacked so i immediately search what happened to the site and yes their twitter has confirmed that there was a security breach.

Wow, that's a very cool idea. Well, here people say that it already works, I do not understand why then we still use a regular browser. It seems to me that the idea is very cool and made for the sake of safety. I think it's worth a try.

HERE IS THE TUTORIAL TO PROTECT YOUR MEW.
https://myetherwallet.github.io/knowledge-base/security/myetherwallet-protips-how-not-to-get-scammed-during-ico.html

But it seems myetherwallet.com has removed metacert by cryptonite from their website?
I wonder why they would do that,i have been using this extension for a while and i dont have any problems encountered.

This is not a panacea, but an improvement that serves to identify phishing sites that you can go into instead of real ones and lose your money.
