Hi,
I'm worried about my EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2

I have 3 GPUs:

  • Asus Strix GTX 1070
  • Sapphire Radeon RX470 Nitro+
  • Sapphire Radeon RX480 Nitro

Will 850W be ok if I add a MSI Radeon RX580 to the rig?
What could happen if I test it?

Thank you.

Check online the power usage of each GPU's

I have a 6 1060 Strix RIG and a 850 W power supply, I don't use it really well.

I think you can go for this power supply. but in terms of evolution of your RIG, I would go for a 1000 or 1200 Watt power supply if you think going to 6 high spec GPU on your rig.

A good place where you can check the power output for the mining rigs based on what GPUs you're using is here: http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/ or http://whattomine.com

For the four cards, Yes, this should be fine, I am running 4x Rx480 mixed with 580 using 850w mining more than a year, no encountered problem about it. rx cards would go to 180w each and 1070 for 125w, its still safe

850W are enough, even with overclocking.

I have six 1070 @65% TDP with a 850W PU. It draws 680W from the wall.

1070 (150 W) + RX470(120 W)+ RX480 (150 W)+RX 580 (185 W) = 605 W

850 - 605 W = 245 W, the rest power 245, not to mention RAM, Processor, SSD, RISER.
yes I know, those other part bit power consumption but better have the rest 300 - 400 for safer and keeps another part to doesn't lack power. using PSUs 1000W or 1200 W.
