Users will have 1 week to withdraw their funds.

What does this mean for Bitcoin/Litecoin? It will most likely affect Litecoin much more than Bitcoin since Atlantis was one of the only marketplaces accepting it. SilkRoad is still going strong though. Bitcoin will be very difficult to be affected since it has gained so much legitimacy with so many real legal businesses now accepting it.

My guess is someone got nailed by that Tor vulnerability the FBI used to snag people using that Tor-based hosting service.

Who knows, interesting that SR is still going strong - maybe they know security better?

I would say that litecoins are worth even less now.

But how can something be worth less than nothing. It boggles the mind.

Interesting self-censorship by cryptosource, even as they quote DPR:

"I have let the fear pass through me and with clarity commit myself fully to the mission and values outlined in the Silk Road charter. If you haven’t read it yet, please do. Here is the link:

“(link omitted. If you want to visit The Silk Road, do so at your own risk)” – CryptoSource"

Sign of the times.

Edit: I had a delay of about 45 seconds after pressing "post" for the above (no kidding). My whole life flashed before my eyes - NSA needs faster servers.         Smiley

Haha... I'll say what we said on Reddit: It's more of a precaution. We don't really want to be associated in promoting the deep web. The goal of the site is to introduce newbies to Bitcoin and Crypto, not to show people how to use the dark web. We just felt the Atlantis shutdown was significant enough to post. We are merely reporting the announcements. We don't want to turn into a how to for accessing the tor network. There are other sites for that Tongue If people really want to know how to get there, they'll find a way Wink

SR will never go down!

If SR goes down that will mean a serious drop in both individual potential freedom and BTC-price (which should be strongly correlated).

Well I think it is possible for SR to go down, but not likely. There is enough crazy knowledge out there that has not been taken over by governments yet. Imagine all those kids world over being forced to go to school for 8hrs per day - at least some of them should feel enough resentment and be smart enough to work against the system. And some of those will end up helping the "anti-system" that SR is basing itself upon. There is no way money can win over human emotion like that. Not in the grand scheme of things..

IF, and that's a big IF, SR goes down, then SR2 will rise from its ashes like a phoenix, and DPR2 will be better. How can that not be the wisdom of the crowd?
