Hello folks,

i'm having issues with deriving the private keys from the seed provided by Blockchain.info web wallet; Iancoleman tool gave me all the privkeys except for the address that held my bitcoin in time of the hard-forks. I already contacted the the support team of blockchain.info and they gave me a Java Script command to extract the privkeys (Blockchain.MyWallet.wallet._getPrivateKey(account#,"M/0/index#") but the results were the same as Iancoleman tool gave... NO presence of the subject address which is still listed in my transactions history as my bitcoin wallet!!!  am'i going to loose all my fork coins?

I've tried to contact them again but no answer  Angry

Please advise if there is any method to get its related private key

Thanks in advance

It might be a change address. What derivation path did you have to use to get those addresses.

They store your private keys but in a supposedly encrypted form.

Try:
(Blockchain.MyWallet.wallet._getPrivateKey(0,"M/0/0/0")
Or
(Blockchain.MyWallet.wallet._getPrivateKey(0,"M/0/1")
To check if it's a change address or not.

for the first command it shows a message of invalid path, whereas for the second one: regenerated a private key for one of the already imported address but not the required one (the address that stored my bitcoin in time of the chain splits). Would you please elaborate more on "change address" ??

Change addresses are addressed where "change" goes.

By example:
If all your wallet has seen is one initial transaction of say 1BTC going in.
You then want to make a 0.5BTC transaction, in a lot of wallets, there's a second layer of addresses that then get sent a 0.5BTC change from that transaction. As the 1BTC input has two 0.5BTC outputs.

Does the script give you only one private key each time or multiple ones? How many are reproduced?

The script gives me only one private key each time and Blockchain.MyWallet.wallet._getPrivateKey(0,"M/0/0") shows the private key of the latest address produced. When i used the iancoleman tool it showed me the full list of the addresses along with its related private keys (including the latest address) except the one that hosted my bitcoin in the time of the fork; I've used the ctrl+f function over more than 50000 address but still couldn't find it. is there any way to locate it using the seed phrase ?

Thanks for your time

Do you see the address at Settings -> Addresses -> Archived addresses?

And did Blockchain generated that address for you or have you imported it (shown at Imported Addresses)?

Blockchain.info generated for me when i transferred x amount of BTC into it (before the hard forks) then i transferred all my holdings to another wallet after the forks. The thing is that i didn't see it in the used/archived addresses until i imported it manually and it is listed now for watch only

This has increasingly become an issue with Blockchain these days. They just don't respond to customer queries anymore.

would you be willing to screenshot that address (and its txid) in your blockchain.info wallet? or tell us the address
is your account quite old? can you check on: Settings > Addresses | "Imported Bitcoin Addresses"
the address could be generated before the introduction of the seed and listed under imported address by default

Can you edit the path on the tool you have downloaded (not the JavaScript one blockchain.info sent you).

And like the others have said, ensure its not archived or imported.

Go to imgur.com and paste your screenshot on there. You should then get a link to share it, post that link here.

I use Blockchain.info wallet too.
I had many problems with my private keys as well, but i managed to solve them by this method.

Paste your seed here:
https://coinomi.com/recovery-phrase-tool.html
Number of words: 12
Coin: Bitcoin (no matter what fork you want)

If still missing funds, go to Derivation Path and set External / Internal: 1

New addresses will be generated now.
This External/Internal are your "change"addresses. If you ever used something like shapeshift inside your wallet, your funds will be there.

There is also a chance that this address is inside another account (if you created new wallets in blockchain.info wallet). In this case, try setting Accounts (inside derivation path) to 1, 2 , 3...

You can’t directly access your private key but you can use your 12 words and decrypt them in a wallet that supports extracting your private key.
Follow this:
1.Get 12 words seed
2.from blockchain wallet to Electrum
3.Find private keys from address "Electrum"

here is the address: 17tv6veEupvAZ7MDd6GgjgvFpYiE3Yd6Dd
its a new address i only imported it after i couldn't find its related private key

based on what I see on explorer, is this your tx sending 0.156 BTC to Bittrex
https://blockchain.info/tx/4889de3d4115a80df493917cea8f0681824fbff3a8a29960890045b6a776c1c2
if my guess is correct, then your address 17tv6veEu... is a change address

if you could try again using iancoleman tool,
- enter your 12 seed phrase in BIP39 Mnemonic textbox
- scroll down and (on BIP44 tab) check if those addresses shown existed in your bc.info wallet
- if it is true, scroll back up a bit and change "External / Internal" to 1, this will list all change addresses
- as far as I know bc.info uses BIP44 Derivation Path (m/44'/0'/0'/0)

but if that doesn't work, try one more time
- click on BIP32 tab
- next to Client label click on the dropdown menu and select "blockchain.info"
- scroll down and check if those addresses shown existed in your bc.info wallet
- if it is true, scroll back up a bit and change the Client to "Custom derivation path"
- then change BIP32 Derivation Path to m/44'/0'/1', check if your change address listed here

Many thanks, problem solved by changing the External / Internal to 1 in iancoleman tool
For sure now it is a change address!!!
