Hi! I'm an avid bitcoin fan, but a first time poster. I have a
question about site etiquette.

I ordered 106 ASIC chips from Butterfly labs on 6/24/13. Today I got
an email that they are scheduled to ship in 7 days. I'm interesting in
selling some of these chips, and was wondering what subforum would be
appropriate, and what the general etiquette is for offering such a
deal.

I don't want to sell some of the chips and then not be able to deliver
quickly, so I'm wondering if anyone else has ordered BFL chips and
received them in a timely manner.

hopefully first of many posts,

I think it should be under marketplace, goods, computer hardware.

That being said you will need to get out of the newbie section before being able to post there. Also you will need to prove somehow that you actually have / are going to get the chips in order for people to trust you to buy them from you, or use an escrow.

I've read that the bfl chips are the only thing bfl delivers on schedule, I might be wrong though...

Good luck

Better you wait till you receive the chips, so you get serious bidders when you state you have the chips in a hand. You might try auction

Thanks for the advice rastanthology.

What is generally acceptale proof that I have placed the order from bfl? Would a order number + screenshot of my account + copy of BFL's email  work or is there some more official way?

I've never done escrow before; but it sounds like a cool process. Are there any resources that could show me how to use escrow? Or do I leave the choice of escrow up to the buyer?

honky1492, you have to mount the chips onto a board to use them, and this requires reflow soldering and some skill. AFAIK there are multiple 3rd parties that will do the soldiering for you. There are certainly open specs on how to design working boards to host the chips. I was planning on using a guy who said he could mount the chips/make the boards at a rate of $300 / 6 chips.

thanks again for your help!

There actually isn't a generally accepted proof. You can try to prove it, some people may trust it, some may not. When you do get the chips you can take a picture of them with a paper with your nickname. You can post the screenshots as well.

Escrows are usually trusted forum members, John K is the most common. They hold the payment until the items are delivered to buyers. They charge a small percentage for this service. Its your choice if you want to use them or not or pay its fee or leave it to the buyer to pay. Usually transactions with escrow goes faster.

You should check the marketplace subforum in order to understand better how it actually works.
