Today when I was browsing Reddit, I found a user who is sending out safe needle kits for users in need.  She is sending the kits out of her own pocket, but is accepting donations, Paypal and BTC via BTC Tip.

If you have any spare Bits, please take a look and help her out.  I am not associated with her whatsoever, I just want to see her thrive and continue helping.

Here:

It's all supply and demand. it depends on the events occurring after it is criminalized or decriminalized; the level of enforcement and more.

Yes, and we can look at concrete data, at least when it comes to addiction.

I was involved in the pro cannabis liberalization and drug consumption decriminalization movement 13 years ago in my country. I grew up before decriminalization. I grew up seeing junkies in every corner, I played near used needles and syringes, cases of addiction in family, neighbors... Practically everybody new someone close with heroin addiction.

13 years after decriminalization things are much better, there are syringe exchange programs, rehabilitation programs, everybody caught using something had to have a few meetings with a psychiatrist, several of my friends had to go, fortunately, I was never caught, and it was always my opinion that send 20 year old college guys who smoke joints to psychiatric consultations a waste of resources, many people with serious addiction could use the attention.

On the other hand, we have US War on Drugs, and has far as I know drugs are winning big time.

Europe's Drugs Bazaar - Portugal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEDZXuRcGig

On the video a guy says he prefers to buy a better or bigger dose with the 2 bucks and share a needle or pick one from the floor than spending those 2 bucks in a new needle, he is HIV+.

"someone put it like this- I am not in favor of car accidents but I still think ppl need seatbelts." Tracey (Reddit safe needle exchange)

To a lot of people in these forums, a few Satoshis wont break the bank, but it can make a big difference to the cause.

People don't choose for car accidents so I don't think it's a good comparison. She should spend money to help those people break their addiction instead of supoorting them in their use of drugs.

This isn't about drug addiction it's about HIV and hepatitis.
It's cheaper to prevent the spread of these diseases by managing needles than it is to treat these diseases later.

My government already does this for free, and provides a shooting gallery with nurses so they don't OD, and they prescribe heroin to the worst cases instead of methadone which doesn't work.

It eliminated millions of dollars in police/ambulance calls, cut HIV infections in half, and got 12,000 people off heroin permanenlty and now my streets aren't covered in used discarded needles because they go to Insite to shoot up. ~7 years ago you couldn't walk a block without navigating past piles of bloody needles it was pretty nasty.
