My major question is, would it theoretically be possible to connect a phyisical product with the blockchain technology? I hope this question is not too abstract or stupid. I only have some basic crypto knowledge and understand the blockchain more as a possibility to save datas on a decentralised network.

One day I heard somebody saying "you can pretty much put everything on a blockchain". I don´t know what he meant, but my mind started to work.

I am a product developer in the bicycle industry and I really ask myself, would it theoretically be possible to create a product or even better a full brand which works kind of open source, where people can contribute to the development process and the brand almost works by itself.

The idea would be, that each product sale generates a little benefit for further product development and enough to keep the company running, but without the major goal to make a winning as big as possible. It should be a brand from the community for everyone.

I know, this would create a million of open questions like, "hey, my fork is bent, who is responsible for complaints"?.

Please don´t think to complicated for now. Does anybody have some simple approaches, which are easy to understand for crypto-greenhorns?

Sorry, english is not my native language, so the easier, the better.

I think this is a very interesting idea. You need electrical experience and a blockchain developer and they can definitely create a bicycle that runs on blockchain in the lab. It will difficult for it to become popular but it will be an interesting thing as a science experiment.

First, you're posting this on the wrong board. You can move it yourself (bottom-left corner).

Currently, "the blockchain" is hyped and used as a buzz-word for quick money making.
My opinion: if you can do something without a blockchain, do it without blockchain! You don't need a blockchain for open source product development. For inspiration, you can for example search for open source 3D-printers.

You could put it on blockchain. The question is will it be efficient enough for what you want it to be.

I'd agree with you and this is what many ICOs are based around. Let's blockchanize everything because we can! When people hear it is the "underlying tech of bitcoin" and it is the next holy grail everybody gets excited but the fact is does it really need to be pt on blockchain? Same is when they start to use trends such as big data, AI, machine learning, cloud computing and all other trendy words. The fact is that sometimes as you mention you don't have to complicate your life with these things if it can be done without them and it could be maybe even easier to implement without.
