I wanted to hear some other opinions on buying a zeusminer x3 Thunder. I am not looking to roi just mine some interesting altcoins to diversify my holdings. Oh and also the most important part, my family we use space heaters to heat our house in the winter. Would this heat an average sized bedroom? Thank you in advance.

Hi, this thing might be a bit too much to heat a bedroom. It dissipates around 1KW of heat, which is a lot for a well isolated room.
Additionally, ZeusMiners are loud as hell. It would be unbearable in a bedroom, or in any room where you have to be, for that matter... So you'd have to mod it with quieter fans.

So, my answer would be no.

Interesting concept trying to save on heating costs and spend the saved money on making more.

But as all ready mentioned, these things are certainly not the quietest, be interested to see what others recomend

They are all pretty noisy and you definitely don't want to use miners to heat your room.  I don't think it is healthy.

The X3 series uses very inefficient chips.

Unless you have free electricity and you get the unit for practically nothing then I would look at A2 Terminator Miners.  They are quite efficient and have a durable track record.

The most efficient would be the KNC Miners - but there have been reports of hardware issues and pool incompatibilities.  So only buy one if you know it works well and has the latest firmware.

Maybe the latest Antminers? The S5 is around 600W and is actually powerful enough to make a bit of money.
But still very loud. I suppose you could open it up and convert it to watercooling. With big enough radiators, you could use slow running fans and make the thing almost silent.

Or you could go the opposite route and use GPUs, adding cards until you reach the amount of heat you need. More expensive, but modular and easier to silence, as watercooling kits are available in every PC shop.

ASIC Miner equipment can be used as a heater. It needs to be on 24/7 to be an effective heater and miner. But it's really loud. It sounds like 500-passenger jetliner taking off. You definitely don't want it in your bedroom or living room. If you have a basement, it may work well. Close the door or place some kind of partition to basement to block noise, and devise someway to emit heat to upper floor.

Utility bill is another concern. If you have solar panels and big fat batteries, you are lucky.

It makes great return considering how cheaply you can buy them for right now.  But if your plan is straight day to day profit you'll lose money via electricity even if you got the Zeus Thunder for free.

Day trading with a few of these is quite a bit of fun though.. Cheesy

electricity cost isn"t a factor because if I bought a space heater it would eat up 1000 watts. So I am just trying to not waste that money spent on heat.

Are you able and competent enough to build your own rig ?

If so I would do that, Motherboard, memory, power supply and start adding GPU's to it.

There is some good 2nd half stuff around at the moment, but that of coarse means they are selling as they arnt making much profit, but as your swapping one power drain for another you should make a little.

Yes I could build my own GPU rig but I have satellite internet and I wouldn't be able to game with it. I thought an asic would be cheaper to get and more profitable.

The best GPU rigs aren't good for gaming anyway. GTX 750Ti is the best mining card and it does not support SLI. It's a decent card, but not really harcore-gaming-grade...
ASICs are indeed cheaper to buy, but less profitable if you pay for power (ie, in the summer)
