feedback about commodity backed token project w/dividents

We are planning a project based on a commodity which we have in stock. We want to issue a token which is backed by the value of the commodity which we have in stock and reflects real-life ownership of the commodity. If we are able to conduct a crowd sale and issue tokens worth our commodity stock, we would be able to obtain a better wholesale price for the commodity which could be passed on to investors in form of dividends.

Excuse my ignorance, I am no finance or economics guy. Let me know please if I am overlooking something of essence....
