Hey guys

Just started using BTC, and I've seen some posts about scams/ things that are complete time-wasters. Any tips on what is and is not a scam?

As a usual rule of thumb, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
It's better to be safe, then not.  Especially with the price that it currently it's at, I can see that more scams might be occuring.
