I found an old wallet file and when I loaded it into the qt client it says balance 0 unconfirmed balance 41 BTCs.

There are a bunch of trans in the trans history but they are all grayed out.  I ran the client with the -rescan argument but it still shows the same thing.

Looking through the trans I do remember some of the trans but when I go to blockchain.info and try to search and of the addresses and tx's all the addresses show 0 sent 0 received and all of the tx's cant be found.

I remember some of these trans so I know they took place.

Anyone have any idea on what to do here?  Any help / suggestions would be great.

One other thing is that under addresses it shows two addresses but where the address is it only lists the first 6 characters of the address.  Even if I right click and click copy address is only does the first 6 that are showing.

Weird.

Thanks

Why are you blocking amounts and addresses?

Privacy.  Im not the only one.   I've saw quite a few others block addresses and stuff.

I deleted the block chain and let it download again and no help.

Which is idiotic as all transactions are public in the blockchain.

Anyway, it looks like those transactions were never confirmed after being broadcasted and were dropped from the mempool of nodes. Which means that you never actually received that BTC, in Bitcoin terms.

Possible double spend...?

As you seem to only have one address, try exporting the private key and re-importing it in a newly created wallet.

I suspect this is not a bitcoin wallet.dat.

Perhaps litecoin?

I think I read somewhere that Bitcoin-Qt returns 1Wh4bh for transactions it doesn't know about.

Or could that be a really old wallet.dat, not compatible with latest QT versions (just a blind try, I don't know if wallet.dat structure changed over time, but you probably do Wink).

I figured it out.  It was a LTC wallet file.  Got them confused somehow.

It would be nice if they were named different or something.
