Crypto currency with SHA512d or SHA3

hi,

I am thinking of modifying the current bitcoin client to hashed on SHA512d or SHA3, than SHA256d it is using now.

As I am not into much cryptography during my days in IT, I am checking if anyone can share with me on their thought on this, imprecations & security benefits, if any.
