So i have heard that some local stores (Vancouver, canada) take bit coin as payment and that they scan a QR code to make the transaction. Is this the only way its done? the wallet i have been using only seems to give me an address. or is there a wallet i should be using that uses the QR code?

QR code is much faster and smartphones use it, but you can enter the bit coin address manually, it have crc code if you mistype some letter
