Hi, thanks in advance for read my support request. hope someone had resolve this issue on the past

At first glance all seems ok with this Rig, the system is just installed, got the AMD Blockchain driver. the miner cast_xmr-vega-win64_085 /082 /81 start mining without any issues, but suddenly after 2 or 3 hours the process hangs and stop.

The miner window stays open showing the last mining result.
Not got any driver error or BSOD
The system respond at 100%
No AMD Driver stop errors.

At that point i can press the Q key to cancel the process (like you can do during mining). Then the actual windows close and can start again the  cast_xmr-vega-win64_085 and works fine  for next 2 or 3 hours until hangs again.

https://image.ibb.co/ndtKvx/5xVega56.jpg

What I have tried at this point:

Reinstall the system
Switch cards
Switch pcie slots and risers
Test another PSU. 1000w and then 1500w
Test different versions of CAST-XMR-VEGA 085,082,081

Need your advice to make this system maintenance free, I need to be on it all day and I am starting to hate these Vega56 cards.

This is my actual mining RIG
Asus Z270-A w/Celeron processor
8GB DDR4
5x Gb Vega56 8Gb
Coolermaster 1500w and EVGA 1000w

This is a known issue with Vegas and Cast XMR. Pulled my hair out trying to solve this too.

I've found that the simplest way to solve it would be to automatically restart your computer every hour. You can use automation tools to do the enable/disable trick in device manager then start CastXMR then set a timer for the 1 hour reset.

All tools and enable/disable device are already installed, but not aware that " 1 hour timer reset" exists. Is part of the Cast-XMR? let me check the available flags then.

Thank you!

PD. Im also starting to loose my hair too.

Can't find "1 hour reset timer" on CAST-XMR flags or inside JJ's XMR-CAST_XMR HashRate Monitor, can you give me a hint to set that timer please.

Thanks

Find GPU that hangs (before cast freeze it's temperature is going down). Increase GPU/MEM voltage on that GPU with 0.06 step and decrease MEM frequency in steps of 5. Repeat if freeze occurs.

did you tried different miner program ?
Try Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v11.2 and see if the same thing happening.

If you have to restart your rig every hour you are loosing a lot of hashing time , its like just you are paying 2-3-4% of extra dev fee... depends on you rig shut down/boot time

What size did you set your rig virtual memory ?
Increase virtual memory to 40GB. if you have 5 GPUs w 8GB, set virtual memory to 5*8=40GB , let us know if its helped Smiley

Clearly you are right about loosing hashing time XXCSU,  I had 64GB of Virtual Memory set.

Let me try with the miner you are suggesting and will let you the results soon.

Thanks!

Let see how it works with the Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v11.2, at first glance look stable, not sure how good is the mining hashrate at this moment  but maybe you got an idea.

But not getting ~1900 like with Cast-XMR, Claymore gave me ~1500

Any idea?

I rolled all 7 same kind GPUs with same results. The power led indicators near the 8pin connector stays at full power, not sure about the temp but sure still.

Let me find out about temps

Try out AMD XMR Miner instead, ive had good results on this one with my Vega 64`s. https://www.amdxmrminer.com. Also check out Claymore`s new NeoScrypt miner, the Vega`s beats GTX1080ti on that algorithm now :-)

AMD XMR Miner
The Miner is free to download for anyone, however it does come with a Current developer fee of just below 2%.

That means for the first 100 minutes, the miner mines for developer about 1 minute for developer (that`s 1%), and for every 100 minutes after the first 100 minutes it mines 2 minutes for developer (that`s 2%).

This means that the miner will provide hashes for developer around one minute each hour.

so the dev fee actually 2% Smiley

Try to play with the COMMAND LINE OPTIONS -h or -dmem

"-h   number of hashes that GPU processes during one round. If not specified, default value is used. For many cases you can increase performance by adjusting this parameter value. For example, "-h 832" means HashCnt=832 for all cards. You can also specify values for every card, for example "-h 640,832,1376,0", zero value means autoselection.

"-dmem   doubled memory mode selection. Specify "-dmem 1" to use twice more GPU RAM, it will improve performance in many cases. Use "-dmem 0" to disable this mode.
   Default value is "-1" (autoselection)."

Use ssl/tls connection to the mining pool , this way the dev fee is only 1% with Claymores miner

"This miner is free-to-use, however, current developer fee is 1% if you use secure SSL/TLS connection to mining pool, every hour the miner mines for 36 seconds for developer.
If you use unsecure connection to mining pool, current developer fee is 1.5%, every hour the miner mines for 54 seconds for developer.
If you don't agree with the dev fee - don't use this miner, or use "-nofee" option."
