Furthermore, that is disregarding how hard unremarkable presence was: warm required gathering kindling, cooling was opening a window, cooking was over open indoor flames, nourishment was difficult to save, beds were scratchy/uneven/hard, garments was hand-made generally from crude fleece (clean, turn string, weave, hand sew) so closets were meager, water was regularly filthy and unhealthy (lager was more need a la filtered water than amusement), and so forth.
