I have been a fan of digital currency since the days of Occupy London. But have only recently made the leap to purchasing some coins. And I may have lost them. Being in my early 60's and not confident around computers, I didn't let this stop me installing Multibit and popping the newly purchased coins into a wallet. Which I have now lost. I 'closed' the wallet today and it has disappeared. With my coins. Can anyone on this forum tell me how to restore my wallet, please? In simple language preferably. I have been visiting this forum for some time and am sorry that it has taken a disaster for me to actually communicate openly. But you all seem like helpful people, so am hoping you will be gentle with me.

Sadly no .... when I 'mislaid' the first wallet, I started a second, new one and labelled it 'second wallet'. This is now the only wallet on file (showing a 0 balance of bitcoins) .... the original is nowhere to be seen.

Thank you for advice but I have searched the entire drive and documents and there is no record of the first wallet anywhere  - only the second (accidentally created empty one). I DO have the password and private key .... is there anything more I can do to recover my wallet / coins? Getting very frightened now Sad

This is way beyond my IT skills and capability but I am extremely grateful to you for taking the trouble to help me. Thank you. And, hopefully, I can find somebody who will do the necessary to rescue my situation. Thank you again.

This sounds a great solution, am downloading Bitcoin-QT as I write. My son is the person I will trust to help me with this. Thank you again - I'll let you know whether I am successful.

Better and better ..... everything happens for a reason as they say .... I am delighted to be supporting Bitcoin in any way I can though it sounds as though Multibit was an error on my part. Assuming I manage to retrieve my coins through Bitcoin-QT, I will make a btc contribution to a good cause in your name - 'Start the Art' Thank you again.
