I've seen some threads which suggest using mBTC, uBTC as units due to the increasing value lately. However, some people think that using those kind of units are too unfamiliar for the masses when thinking of how we are used to when speaking of money, currency.

For example, we always say 1$, 100$, 1000$. We don't say 1$, 1h$ (hektodollar), 1k$ (kilodollar).
Similar in the world of Bitcoin we gonna use 1 BTC, mBTC, uBTC.. scaling downwards because of the value we are seeing today. Something seems not so right.

Others voice a possible way using "satoshi" as the new unit for the currency of Bitcoin. Well, the main drawback I can think of is the long word one has to pronounce when saying sa-to-shi. Maybe there is another word which is symbolic, short, and sounds somewhat related to Bitcoin if possible.

In theory, we will totally have 21 000 000 and 1 BTC today is worth alot more compare to the value of $.
So, 1 BTC should equal 1000 or 10 000 of that new found unit. For example, 1 existing BTC = 1000 coins or = 1000 tokens.
Only markets, websites and wallet-softwares need to change to the new unit.

We can sort of make a list on words we can think of as the new unit.
Please fill in.  Grin

I'm sure the names will work themselves out for sub btc units as the value increases and exchangers and merchants need to use a lot of sub btc numbers.

I always say millibits for anything less then a coin, and then call them coins above.

"I bought a new miner for 6 coins, and sold it for 7.5!"

"You want 20$ worth of coins? Thats 4.28 millibits."
