To buy LTC there are a number of different options. Assuming you're starting with fiat, you can get money into btc-e by US Bank Wire, EU Bank Wire (SEPA), Visa, Mastercard, Liqpay.com, unikarta.com, PerfectMoney.com, WebCreds.com, Ukash.com or Webmoney.ru.

Alternatively buy some Bitcoin (for example at Bitstamp or MTGox) and then transfer the Bitcoin to another exchange to exchange for Litecoin.

LTC is worth almost 43 USD today on BTC-E. While BTC has been becoming terribly expensive to buy, LTC is still within the reach of many of us and it will potentially be the next big thing.

The rate of LTC/USD is $30 today. Down from the all time high $43 about a week ago. But the important thing is the volume of LTC traded directly into USD and vise versa is getting bigger. This is to mention that LTC was usually traded with BTC other than USD before.
