Hello guys,
I flashed one of my 480's the other day and it didn't go too smoothly. When I restarted the computer all I would get was a BSOD. Every. Single. Time.
I knew it needed re-flashing back to stock so I tried through CMD, through safe mode, through DOS, through a Win98 Boot, through the toilet U-Bend but nothing worked. I could not get it back and I thought it was as good as dead...
... but alas! I managed to get it working again and thought I would share just in case anyone else is in the same position and pulling their hair out.
It might sound simple for some people, and for those, you needn't carry on reading - for others that have donned their blinkers however..
Find the offending GPU
Disconnect all GPU(s)
Boot the system via On-board (If you don't have On-bard maybe an alternative brand would work i.e: if AMD bricked, use a Nvidia)
Once in Windows; uninstall all the offending GPU's drivers. Display Driver Uninstall to completely clean it out.
Now restart the computer with the offending GPU installed, but stay connected via On-Board.
Windows should now boot properly. Windows doesn't know how to use it again so cannot check it - which I believe is what kept crashing it.
Run ATIFlash andchange the BIOS back.
(If you didn't make a back up - check this website (TechPowerUp))Provided that went smoothly; you can now re-install the drivers
and Voila! the card should be fully functioning again.
If not, well... it didn't hurt to try. lol. Good luck! Hope it helps someone
