 Huh

I made my first ever BTC purchase (just a mere €50 in case it went pear shaped - which it has!).

I cannot seem to get the BTC into my Electrum wallet !

I have had the receive request outstanding in my Electrum wallet since 7/1/2018 .... so 4 months as of today.

What on earth am I supposed to do to be able to get my BTC into my wallet?

FYI - I bought them via the BitPanda site.    I have a record of the "payout to wallet" transaction in BitPanda - but nothing stored in my wallet.

So, end result is my €50 experiment has disappeared into a black hole !!!

Anyone have a clue what I need to do to find my BTC (or my money instead) ?

PS:  I did ask BitPanda support - but they just reply with a standard text with a series of links ..... what I didn't get from them was an answer to my question "Where has my €50 of BTC gone?"

Any help / guidance will be appreciated - since I don't want to make larger purchases until I know I understand how this works and that I can actually find what I am supposed to have bought !

Had to say this is my favorite british saying lol.

Do you have the transaction Id number from them in any confirmation emails? I'm not familiar with them as a company.

With that info we can track the actual sending of BTC if it was sent. We really need more details.

What was the public address you gave them to receive the BTC. Just the receiving address, do not give out private keys or passwords

install (upgrade to) the latest version of Electrum (currently 3.1.3) and your issue will be solved.

the problem is that BitPanda is using a SegWit transaction which old version of Electrum could not parse (due to a bug) so your wallet is not showing it.
issues 3798 and 3788 are discussing this. and this problem was solved 4 months ago! PR

Looks like you never got responses to your previous questions as to which ID number is your TransactionID:
I have the following numbers from BitPanda screens:-
 - Order ID in Trade Details screen
 - Wallet Transaction payout to id in Trade Details screen
 - Order ID in the Wallet transaction screen
 - The PID in the Wallet Transaction screen  (no idea what "PID" stands for)

A TransactionID should look something like this: bdd0bad47bcc52da053895a842b883eb801747b2821ca03533da5aefc9eb9c94

Do any of those numbers from your BitPanda account looks like that? According to the BitPanda Knowledge Base, it should be viewable in your wallet... https://support.bitpanda.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002576029-Where-do-I-find-the-Order-ID-or-Transaction-ID-

Looking at a screenshot... I think maybe a shortened version of the transaction ID could possibly be the "Payout To" field as shown here in the "Trade Details" screen:

Is that "Wallet Transaction" number a clickable link? Is that the how you get to the "Wallet Transaction" screen? If so, try clicking the "Timestamp" on the Wallet screen as per the BitPanda support page linked above:
You can see the details such as the PID and the Transaction-ID by clicking on the date.

I have had the receive request outstanding in my Electrum wallet since 7/1/2018 .... so 4 months as of today.
The "Receive" request from Electrum is unnecessary to complete the transaction.
It's just a reference for you to "know" if the specific incoming transaction was received (to that address), it also adds a label to the address.

You can safely remove it from the history.

PS: You should have bumped your old thread if it still not resolved  Wink

I have a record of the "payout to wallet" transaction in BitPanda - but nothing stored in my wallet.

How do you define 'nothing stored in my wallet' ?
Is just your receive request not 'filled' yet or is your whole balance still 0?

The best would be to check the 'payout to wallet' transaction in a block explorer (e.g. blockcypher, blocktrail or blockchain).
Does the receipent address of this transaction match with the address generated in your wallet?

Which version of electrum are you using (it has to be 3.1.3) ?

Is electrum properly connected to nodes (Do you see a green- or red circle at the bottom right corner) ?

These are some basic question which would be helpful if answered. It makes it much more easier to define the issue.

OK  Grin

The most helpful answer was to upgrade the Electrum wallet to the latest build.   This has indeed let me see the transaction, and now it has 5 confirmations.

Apparently my €50 of BTC is now worth only €27 - but at least the right number of BTC is appearing in the History page of Electrum.
On the other hand the Receive screen stlll shows it as Pending.    Presumably after a while it will show as confirmed?

Question Someone responded that my Receive transaction in Electrum was not necessary and that I could delete it.
But without a Receive transaction, how would I get a new Receiving Address ?
(afaik it should be unique for every transaction?)

That sounds about right... BTC in January was worth nearly ~US$19K... Now it is under US$10K

No... what you are looking at is the "receive request" on the "Receive" tab. These requests are a bit like "invoices" that you can create and send to someone. They send you the funds and Electrum matches up the payment with the request and marks it as "complete" etc. It's a way of tracking payments when you're requesting funds from people.

For whatever reason, Electrum has not matched up the amounts in this instance (likely because the amount of BTC you got from BitPanda does not match the BTC amount on the request). In any case, you can safely delete the entry on the "Receive" tab... it is effectively meaningless... and will NOT affect your balance.

Just look at the "Receive" tab, it will display an address that you can copy/paste. You don't need to enter an amount or a label or click "save". Also, You can look at the "Addresses" tab... ("View -> Show Addresses" if you can't see the tab)... and select an address from there that is unused.

Note that while it is recommended to use unique addresses for each transaction (for privacy reasons), it is certainly not compulsory. You can re-use addresses it just reduces your privacy (and the privacy of those transacting with you) by a small degree if you do.
