Do you still have to install the whole Bitcoin Qt client with the blockchain on your computer to have a wallet, or can you have a really good Bitcoin wallet on your computer without having to do that huge download?

Electrum wallet doesn't donwload whole blockchain, for example. You can also have web wallet...check bitcoin.org posted wallets - that's the ones i trust.

Multibit is a good option for newbies. It gets synced up within seconds and you'r ready to go! No need to download the whole blockchain.

Web wallet is not recommended for more that a few Satoshi.

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.
