Ripple is a monetary system where Bitcoin can be used along with multiple currencies.

Ripple credits are abundant, hence no need to track balances, etc.

Maybe I should rephrase that to read as a just a Token, rather than one of exchange.
But since Ripple complements currencies so well, its tokens have got some stored value as they allow for transactions on the ripple network.
