i think it's too late since other companies come out with better equipment. KNC miner send their batch of jupiters (550 GH/s a piece) last week. Diff will be to high really fast. especially because Q1/Q2 2014 a lot more equipment will be pumped in the network (miners mining 2+ TH/s a piece!!)

Maybe good deal to start with mining? In fact, I wanna try it too but it's expensive compared to the BFL 5GH (which is sold out)

In terms of price per GH/s it's a really bad deal.

However, they're small, don't require external power (assuming you have USB 3.0 to power it) and it looks and feels simple.
This makes it a great miner for starters who maybe didn't dive too deep into ROI and such.

But yeah, making $449 back with 5GH/s will take some time (if ever), that's for sure.

$ per GH/s is what kills hardware mining these days, the sudden price hike has shocked the existing mining community and makes the barrier to entry for mining much greater.

Erupters were $8 ---> now $40-$60  [so from about $25 per GH/s to over $150]
Blades were $250 ---> now $500-$800  [$25 --> $70]
Cubes were $600 ---> now $1100-$2000 [$17 --> $42]
KnCs' were $4500 ---> now over $15k-$30k [$5-$7 --> $50]
etc etc
