  Greetings!

This post is about a trading site (LBEW) hosted at http://londonbitcoinexchange.wordpress.com/. In 2011 I contacted the site to negotiate a trade. I was interested in the service since they seemed very flexible in providing alternative payment methods. We agreed that I would transfer the funds to them through Mt.Gox. However, Mt.Gox got hacked soon after I had transferred the funds to the address LBEW had given me. LBEW contacted me through email and explained that their operations were frozen until Mt.Gox could sort their stuff out. After that email I was never able to contact them again.

I do not know what happened in the end. Although I am not exactly sure, I believe that they did receive my funds despite the temporary problems at Mt.Gox. However I have no idea what kind of other effects the hacking of Mt.Gox might have had on their operations. Perhaps they went out of business or decided to quit based on the problems they had encountered. This theory is supported by the fact that the URL http://www.londonbitcoinexchange.com/ (which they advertised as an alternative way of reaching them) no longer contains any related content.

I am writing this forum post as a warning since the WordPress site is still up and running. I believe it is live only because it does not need any maintenance to continue running. However, if it still happens to work I would not recommend using the service. Technical difficulties and fragile business models are one thing but failing completely in responding to a paying customer would be really bad.

Please do not confuse LBEW with other London based bitcoin exchange services that may be well functioning.

I am posting this in the newbies section since that is the only section a new comer gets to access.
