Hello, I have a problem with my Brand-new Asicminers.

I have set up 20 USB Block eruptors (333 MH/s before, but this is truly another story...)

Setup:

- PSU for Packpane: HP ATSN 7001044-Y000 Rev: E  1000Watt
- Alternative PSU: LCPower 1000W 80PlusGold certified
- 5 Blades
- Backpane
- Switch (TP-Link 8Port TLSG1008D)
- Router (Fritz Box 6340)
- Future Proxy: Raspberry Pi (fully working when plugged in)

The Problem is that I cannot find the Blades on the network.
If I connect the Blade to the Router, it does not recieve any IP (The yellow Connected-LED does not light up at all).
Neither does the Blade get any IP when I put the cable into the Router, nor directly to my PC.

Router IP: 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254
Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0

This is my first Blade ever.
All the 5 Blades were new and have the same problem.
So it cant be a manufacturing issue.

The Blades only react with blinking of the green LED, every 30~60 seconds, 4x.

Anyone in here who can help me getting out of this mess?

PS: sorry for some incorrect words. Its not my first language.

Correct.  They don't work on DHCP.  Each Blade has the IP address of 192.168.1.254 hardcoded on it until you manually change it.  If your router is also on 192.168.1.254 then there's an IP conflict.

Set a static IP on your PC, for example 192.168.1.100.  You should connect your PC and one blade to the switch, change the IP of the Blade (to say 192.168.1.200) by going to http://192.168.1.254:8000 in your web browser, then connect the next Blade and change it's IP to 192.168.1.201, and do similar for each Blade..  Only then you can plug your TPLink in to your router, and it should all work OK.

Assuming that you have the polarity correct, which seems to be okay since the lights are one, make sure your network cables are plugged in sufficiently (the tab should click when plugged into the socket).

The Blade is not a DHCP device, it has a static IP that is set to 192.168.1.254 by default.  It seems like your router settings are fine, but what is your router ip?

Access the Blade via your web browser at http://192.168.1.254:8000.  Standard http port is 80, but blade access port is 8000.

You can change the Blade IP once you're in the interface.  Be sure to plug in and configure ONE blade at a time.  You can do this by connecting the network cables one at a time, or powering them up one at a time.

Hope this helps.

The RJ45 (LAN Cable) is plugged in correctly.

When I plug the cables of both the PC and the Blade into the switch, the Blade LAN Port still wont light up.

The router IP is 192.168.1.1 with its Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Switch Ports connected (right one goes to the blade, left one to the router)

your router settings look fine.

Try doing a factory reset on the blade and then try again.  Also, check to make sure the rj-45 jack is secured properly, as there have been reports that some have been loose or not soldered correctly in the past.

Where did you buy it from? was it factory sealed in the static bag when you got it?

yep it was factory sealed, bought it of a german reseller on Ebay (no private one).

I already tried a factory reset several times without any sign of change.

The RJ45 Jacks... Do you mean the Cables or the Sockets on the Blades themselves?

Both of these are not loose. I even tried my old ~20 meter cable which worked perfectly until 1 week ago, but nothing changed.

[edit] added some pictures of the setup (2 blades lay nearby, off screen) [/edit]

Hmm have you checked the voltage readings on the terminals? the left half of the EDGE socket (when looking at the ASIC chips) or right half (when looking at the heatsinks) should be pos(+).  the other half is neg(-).  Make sure it's plugged in correctly?

Have you tried only plugging in one unit and testing it?

Other than that... I don't know.  perhaps powering it directly via the green power plug instead of using the backpane?

I sadly have no multimeter at hand.

The only thing that I can say is that:

The PSU is getting warm
The Blades blink green 3-4x every 30~60 seconds.

I cannot connect the Blade via the green connectors until the PCI-E Extenders come via mail, which should be in 1-2 days latest.

but... Where to check the Voltages anyways?

You can check at the base/connector, or at the fan contacts.  There are 3 fan contacts, but only 1 pair has a 2-pin connector soldered to it.  either can be used for testing voltage.

I would get a voltmeter, they are cheap, and good insurance.  Your psu should be outputting 12.7v

If they're blinking, but not showing any network activity at all, then something's not right.  They should at least connect to the network and the light on the ethernet jack should be on.  Have you tried connecting directly to your computer, or to another switch/hub/router directly?

Thanks for your tips, greatly appreciated Smiley

I will get a Multimeter in the local stores, might be costing more but hey ... dont want to wait any longer.

I have tried all possible combinations:

PC <=> Blade
PC <=> Switch <=> Blade
PC <=> Router <=> Switch <=> Blade

none of them made the Blade "wake up" on LAN.

In 1-2 days the MOLEX Splitters and the PCI-E cables will be delivered.
Will connect them like the Pictures say in Dogie's guide of the Blades.

Never had this porblem in my life, this is kinda weird.

IT WORKED!

The 1000 Watt PC PSU arrived. Did the Paperclip Trick.
I ghetto mounted the first Blade via the green connector at the top, as described in Dogie's Guide and... IT WORKED!

Either the PSU or the Backpane is severely broken on delivery. I think the Backpane. Will use it as static Blade holder now. At least it has ONE purpuse Cheesy

Selling the PSU, doesnt work with the Backpane so... whatever it works !

Good to hear.  That's why you should always have a multimeter on had to test things out.

FWIW, I used this PSU, and it works flawlessly.  There are several different CS (common slot) HP power supplies, but not all of them work.  The backpane is relatively simple, and only has 2 huge power traces, so I doubt it was the problem.

DPS-800GBA-HP ML350/370 DL380 G5 1000W POWER SUPPLY

Your part number doesn't seem to correspond to my PSU's crossreference, so perhaps the pinouts are incorrect.  In any case, glad you got it to work.
