There`s been a lot of talk about creating FPGAs or ASICs that mine scrypt based crypto-currency.

My question is whether it is even possible to do so and if it is, is it worth it?

Would Scrypt FPGAs make GPU mining obsolete? If so, how soon could that happen?

Making other forms of mining obsolete is relative to the miner. Some do not pay for electricity, so it would depend on their cost to mine. For others it would depend on the market value of LTC at the time they are mined.

Well, i mean you cant mine BTC with GPU`s anymore profitably. I`m wondering whether scrypt based coins will follow in the same path. Is it wise to invest in GPU`s if there are scrypt based ASICs underway?
