API isn't a real term by itself. It needs to be proceded by what kind or brand of API it is. What are you referring to?

Also,  something as modern as bitcoin I'd definitely suggest ditching PHP and SQL for some aspects for something like node,  ruby or put in. PHP is kind of an old tech these days for startups IMO
